Magical Use of Herbs

• Herbs can be used during rituals & castings by dressing candles or burning them alone, they can also be added to spell jars, etc.
• Add herbs to baths for self cleansing or add to water (with or without salt) as a magical wash for your floors, door, windows & tools.
• Include herbs in your mojo bags & sachets to carry with you, on you, or to keep in a car or placed under your pillow.
• Create magical potions, oils, waters, & sprays using the plant or essential oils of the plant.
• Combining herbs with the same magical properties can boost & enhance your spell work.
• Some herbs can be used in teas, body scrubs, soaps, pastes, or turned into incense.
• Always double check the safety of the plant when ingesting, burning or adding to a bath as many plants are poisonous & toxic. Also take care & use caution while pregnant.

Agrimony

Also known as common agrimony, fairy’s wand, church steeples, sticklewort, cocklebur & garclive. This is one of the oldest healing herbs. The Saxon would mix it with human blood & crushed frogs to cure internal bleeding. In the UK it was a common tool for cunning folk, it would be planted around the farmhouse to repel evil magic & keep dark witches away. In folk magic it was placed under the pillow to aid sleep, although you had to remember to remove it in the morning.

Sage

Native to the Mediterranean region, named “Salvia Officinalis” meaning “Salvation”. It was used in ancient Rome for digestion, in Egypt for fertility, & classical Greek society as a preservative & memory enhancer. Magically used to cleanse ritual tools & spaces, to ground, connect, & center. It has been used by Native Americas for hundreds of years.
